Sophie’s Responsibility What’s happening here? Sophie enters the room in a black pants suit, carrying the carpet beater. Lined up, with only their t-shirts on are Linda, Claire and Lauren. Sophie indicates Linda first and she bends over a table. She is the first to feel the carpet beater. Sophie takes her responsibility very seriously and administers the beater until all of their bottoms are bright red. When the last one, Lauren, is done, they all, one by one, must feel the sting of the tawse. It is Sophie’s responsibility.
